Boil ½ kilo of pork loin (sliced into pieces) in 2 cups water with ½ teaspoon of salt until tender and drain. We have to keep the pork stock for later use. Mix 2 tablespoons of corn starch and soy sauce and coat the pork with the cornstarch mixture. Fry the pork in 3 tablespoon of oil until golden brown, then set it aside. Add another 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to ½ cup of pork stock and set aside. Sauté 3 cloves of garlic and a large-sized onion in little oil, then add 1 green and 1 red bell pepper sliced into strips, 1 small can of pineapple chunks including the syrup, 3 tablespoon catsup, 1 tablespoon sugar, ½ teaspoon salt and dissolved cornstarch. Stir till the sauce thickens. Pour over fried pork and it’s ready to be eaten.

Witnesses said that they saw the man pulling the chain looped around the dog’s neck as he was tied to the gate. He kept pulling the chain in an upward movement leaving the dog suspended in the air until he was suffocated. Poor dog…

The vast majority of Filipinos who were able to see the picturesque Taal Volcano and Lake, have marveled at them from above, the city of Tagaytay in the Province of Cavite. Tagaytay is one of the Philippines ’ most popular tourist destinations because of its proximity to Manila , its cool climate and it’s almost 700-meter above sea level elevation. In addition to its height, its strategic location provides the city’s residents and visistors a view of Manila Bay in the North, Laguna Bay on the East and Taal Volacano and Lake to the South. I just hope I could visit Tagaytay once again after being out of the country for several years.

I like cancer researcher Dr. Robert Good because he was a hard-driving individual with an enormous faculty for new ideas. According to an article I read about him, he had the ability to make use of any information he came across.

I was most impressed, however, with a statement that credited him with a willingness to recognize any error in his theories and abandon them faster than anyone else in medical research. An associate said, “Dr. Good never gets married to his hypotheses, so he doesn’t go through the pangs of divorce when one is proven wrong.”

Words that Defile

Recently I overheard an older woman speaking to a friend about the current obsession with dieting. I was so impressed with her when she mused that these days she’s more concerned with what comes out of her mouth that what goes into it. Well, I thought there’s a world of wisdom in those words.

It’s true that the things which proceed out of our mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man.

There’s a story about a farmer who was known for his negative attitude. One day a neighbor stopped by and commented on the farmer’s wonderful crop. “You must be extremely happy with this year’s harvest,” he said. The farmer grudgingly replied, “Well, yes, it looks like a pretty good one, but a bumper crop is awfully hard on the soil.”

Fear of Risk

Many were saying that it was too risky to get married. What if you marry the person and you realize after a few years that he is not meant for you? What will happen to you? You will be doomed to unhappiness for the rest of your life.

Some of our young people say, “It is better to get married.” They say that when you are single you face loneliness. You face insecurity of old age. You face many fears, so many anxieties. Those who are married say, “It is better to remain single. Look what happened to us.”

But whether we remain single or we get married, we face risks. We cannot avoid risks in life because there are no perfect decisions or perfect options in life.

Being Possessed

I guess you have heard of a person being possessed by the devil but only very few of us have experienced it. But even though few of us have experienced being possessed, many of us have acted like we actually were possessed.

Kicking a dog without reason, shouting at a child simply because you are tired, gossiping about other people, and pretending to be something we are not, are signs of diabolical possessions. Maybe none of us would shriek and bleed. Yet many of us have lived this way.
