Fear of Risk

Many were saying that it was too risky to get married. What if you marry the person and you realize after a few years that he is not meant for you? What will happen to you? You will be doomed to unhappiness for the rest of your life.

Some of our young people say, “It is better to get married.” They say that when you are single you face loneliness. You face insecurity of old age. You face many fears, so many anxieties. Those who are married say, “It is better to remain single. Look what happened to us.”

But whether we remain single or we get married, we face risks. We cannot avoid risks in life because there are no perfect decisions or perfect options in life.

Being Possessed

I guess you have heard of a person being possessed by the devil but only very few of us have experienced it. But even though few of us have experienced being possessed, many of us have acted like we actually were possessed.

Kicking a dog without reason, shouting at a child simply because you are tired, gossiping about other people, and pretending to be something we are not, are signs of diabolical possessions. Maybe none of us would shriek and bleed. Yet many of us have lived this way.

Thai restaurants are now starting to dominate the Philippine market. They’re trying to follow the footsteps of Chinese and Korean restaurants. Thai food is more or less similar to Filipino food. The difference is just that it is spicier than that of Filipino food. But as to the taste?! They’re equally mouth-watering and delectable. Examples of Thai foods that are most frequently ordered in Thai restaurants are Som Tam Salad, Yam Pla Duck Foo, Crispy catfish with Mango Salad, and Thai Cochinllo which is very good when paired with Nam Prik or infused fish sauce with chillies.

Oil Price Rollback!

For the past three or four months the Filipinos, especially the motorists, were alarmed with the surging price of oil and gasoline. Every week, there was always an increase in the prices of oil and gasoline of not less than one Philippine peso. But now it seems that the circumstances are turned the other way around. Philippine motorists are now very happy that every week, most of the major oil players are having a rollback on the prices of their products. And they said that it’s a result of the rollback on the gasoline price per barrel in the world market. I just hope that this would continue until the prices would be affordable for majority of my kababayans.

Earthbound

A lot of leading experts on paranormal and psychics claim that they can hear voices of the dead, see unearthly beings and have conversations with the so-called “ghosts”. I don’t really know if what they’re talking bout is true or not. But I can’t also absolutely allege them that they’re lying. Though I also believe that there are still earthbound spirits who are unaware of their mortal death, I find it very unbelievable that these spirits can be guided to their true home in the after life by living, willing mediums. Maybe, I would only believe it when I will experience it myself or even witness some incidents of extraordinary exorcism or things similar to it.

During England ’s Victorian era, the calling card was an important social requirement. A gentleman or a lady would present a card to a servant when arriving at someone’s home. It was proof of refinement. Failure to present a card would have been considered extremely poor taste. Often, a Victorian gentleman would ask a woman to dinner or to the theater by leaving his card. If she wished to accept or decline the invitation, she could do so by writing a note on her own card.

Eating Chinese

No offense meant, the title doesn’t mean its literal meaning. Just want to share my fondness of eating Chinese food. There’s really no argument about my being loyal to Asian food. And when we talk of Asian food, Chinese food is never an exception to that. One of my favorites is the stir-fried noodles. They say that it gives one long life, but I guess it’s just an old Chinese belief. Nevertheless, it really gives me satisfaction and a good appetite. I have tried eating in some Chinese restaurants, but nothing really beats the one at the Manila China Town which are prepared by authentic Chinese chefs.
